About me:
Slavoj Žižek (born March 21, 1949, in Ljubljana, Slovenia) is a philosopher, cultural theorist, and public intellectual renowned for his provocative interpretations of ideology, psychoanalysis, and popular culture. He blends Hegelian dialectics, Marxist politics, and Lacanian psychoanalysis into a distinctive and highly recognizable style—equal parts rigorous and absurd.

Žižek holds doctorates in both philosophy and psychoanalysis, and he’s currently a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Sociology and Philosophy at the University of Ljubljana. He has also taught and lectured worldwide, including at European Graduate School, NYU, and Birkbeck College.

Often dubbed the “Elvis of cultural theory,” Žižek gained global fame through books like:

The Sublime Object of Ideology (1989)

Welcome to the Desert of the Real (2002)

Violence (2008)

Living in the End Times (2010)

Žižek’s work traverses everything from Hollywood films, to Stalinism, Christianity, and the failure of liberal democracy. His delivery style is energetic, digressive, and self-referential — often parodying himself while offering profound critiques of ideology.

He is both celebrated and criticized for being a postmodern court jester, a radical leftist, and sometimes an academic troll, but always remains one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary theory.
