I think that having a thread to introduce ourselves would be beneficial to the civil simian community. With that said, I'll talk a little about myself to start off. I think a good template for this would be to include your first name to makes things more personal for friendship, etc., your age so we can get a better idea of how much life experience you've had, your interests, and the types of philosophy or ideas that you like.
My name is Truc, and I am a male who resides in Pennsylvania. I am 16, and attend high school as a junior. My interests include the rubik's cube, minesweeper, and general knowledge related things (Quizbowls... etc.) I really have no firm foundation on which to base my philosophy or ideas, but that doesn't mean I don't have my own ideas. I tend to think outside of the box, and tread a little on the impulsive and radical side. I aspire to become a medical doctor, and thus most things about medicine will interest me. If you'd like to know more, just feel free to ask. |

My name is Tim, and I am a 17 year old high school student from Pennsylvania... go figure. I am a senior, and I like playing games, pretty much any kind, especially the stereotypically nerdy kind, and am also interested in quiz bowl type things. My personal philosophy is based on individualism and subjectivity, but follows no set guidelines in general. I want to be a cryptanalyst and am interested particularly in questions involving existence and the workings of the human consciousness.

Hey guys. I'm thomas. I'm 34. I've been drawing, and recording since I was 10. I used to skateboard and draw when I was younger. I also spent alot of time at the beach. When I was 17 I started playing in bands, and I played guitar in about 5 different bands. I wrote 14 albums, and recorded 3 professionally. I found that I had to depend on too many other people in the music business to be successful, and I think I am unusually driven, so I was always disappointed with the people I was with (I'm not that way now). I decided to get back to my artwork, web design, graphic design, and 3D design. I got my assosciates in Art, and I started studying science and philosophy in my spare time. I became obsessed with philosophy after a few books, and I just dove into it and started developing my own philosophy. I had been writing poetry for years, and reading it to try and understand myself, but, philosophy offered other points of view of other great men which became more valuable to me than my own thoughts. I started developing my Philosophy of Conscious Reform which is basically a way to outline your life. I started feeling like people think they know who they are inside, but they don't reeeaaaally know. I wanted to work on a way that they could actually outline their life, and alter it when they change their mind on different ideas.
The Philosophy of Conscious Reform was far to complex and dogmatic, so, I spent at least a year just narrowing it down to something that is chewable, and I hope to push it forward from here. Thanks for this thread guys. Lets get some other people here! |

I am David, but do use the psudoname Mev in regular life on occasion. I was born in 1982, and am 26 at my time of writing this. I was primarily raised by my slightly unitarian, highly environmentalist mother in the Northern San Francisco Bay area, and somewhat raised by my zealotly protestant father. While both my parents believed in some kind of god, by the age of five I did not, and was even secretly dismissive of the notion. My neighborhood had an ongoing gang war until my mid teens, which greatly influenced my ability to accept factionalism.
I have done much spiritual exploring, and currently categorize myself as an atheist with a strong sense for the numinous. I was too skeptical of my local school system, created my own curriculum when fifteen forsaking my studies. I flunked from highschool and gained my GED. I've been working as an inspector for polymer (plastic) optics (lenses of varying complexity) for the past year. I hope to contribute some very interesting and sound arguments here.
