Doesn't sympathetic charity seem disgusting in a way. If you were homeless, would you want some 20 year old rich kid serving you at the soup kitchen, on a narcissistic mission to boost his ego by helping the homeless, or would you feel more comfortable being served by a guy you used to see suffering on the street with you. It's all about the empathy.
The pen is mightier than the sword, and the database is mightier than the pen!

It's pretty true. When you have suffered you are genuinely compelled to help. Some people are trying to be good people, and others just understand.
